The Main Square
The Main Square in Cracow is one of the most characteristic places in the city, it is the largest medieval square in Europe. It contains such important monuments as the St. Mary's Church, the clothing hall Sukiennice, the Church of St. Wojciech and the Town Hall Tower. The Main Square is an ideal place to relax in the city center.
Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the so-called ‘smaller basilica’, it is one of the most characteristic buildings in Cracow. Inside the church is the masterpiece of Wit Stwosz - “Wielki Ołtarz”. The polychrome of the presbytery walls was made by Jan Matejko. The church has two characteristic towers of different heights. From the higher so called ‘hejnał mariacki’ is played every hour.
In the 19th century, the Old Town in Cracow was surrounded by huge walls and moat but it was demolished. Only three walls joined the fortifications and the Florian Gate.
Wawel Castle is part of Polish history, the dwelling of Polish rulers, as well as their necropolis, a symbol of Polish culture and tradition. For centuries there have been important events for Poles, the most important objects on this hill are the Castle and the Cathedral of St. Wacław and St. Stanisław.
Kazimierz is a historical Jewish district known for well-preserved synagogues, among others, the Old Synagogue and the Tempel Synagogue, which transport tourists to the world of Judaism. Former royal city and a place with an extraordinary atmosphere and history, full of charming cafes, colorful streets and mysterious corners.
For a short time a separate city, and today a somewhat forgotten district of Cracow with a rich history. The most famous monuments of Podgórze include: Kopiec Kraka, Romanesque church of St. Benedict, Old cemetery in Piedmont.
Extremely charming district of Cracow, enveloped in numerous legends. These are the places worth visiting: Monastery of the Norbertine Sisters, Romanesque church of St. Salvator, Wooden chapel of St. Margaret, Kościuszko’s Mound) on Wzgórze Sikornik, from where you can see the panorama of the city.

Nowa Huta arouses great interest of tourists, especially those interested in the communist era. However, the history of these areas is much older and no less fascinating, as evidenced by archaeological research and numerous preserved monuments. These are places worth visiting: Kopiec Wandy (i.e.Wanda's Mound), A historic Cistercian church and monastery in Mogiła, Wooden church of St. Bartłomiej, Manor house of Jan Matejko in Krzesławice.
